Serving Our Seniors Hits Record Numbers. Interfaith of The Woodlands announced that its 3rd Annual Community Serving Our Seniors was a huge success with a record number of project sites and volunteers.
More than 480 community seniors were helped when 330 youth, civic group and corporate volunteers assisted with various projects. At the independent homes, volunteers performed a number of projects and several major repairs.
At one site, volunteers helped a senior with plumbing issues in his home and yard work totaling more than 30 bags of debris. At several other sites, volunteers repaired damaged fencing and performed house cleaning. Volunteers also held car washes at all senior living communities.
Debbie Repka, director of Interfaith of The Woodlands Senior Services, said, “This is a new record. Last year, we had approximately 200 senior project sites and less than 300 volunteers. ”
The Woodforest Charitable Foundation, sponsor of the event, presented a $5,000 check, which provided funding for this year ’s program.
