The Auxiliary of St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital won an award for its newsletter by the Texas Association of Healthcare
Volunteers.
The newsletter, Helping Hands, landed second-place honors in a recent TAHV statewide competition in the
126-200 bed category among Texas hospitals.
The newsletter was initiated just last year by Dora Hughes, a long-time volunteer at St. Luke’s who serves as communication chair and was the first Auxiliary president.
The Helping Hands newsletter is generated quarterly for the volunteers and includes news and
photos of recent developments around the hospital, community news and a
spotlight on a different volunteer in each issue. It is developed and written
by the volunteers, and volunteer
Tommie Tessier assists with the layout and design.
Debra F. Sukin, CEO of St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital, said, “I am proud of our volunteers and the fact that the newsletter won an award.
Their hard work and devotion to this hospital is truly appreciated by so many.
These volunteers are vital to our commitment of quality and hospitality by
providing countless hours of service. In this time of economic challenges, our
volunteers are vital to fulfilling our mission of exceptional care and service.
