Diamond Star Ranch Youth Initiative receives over $1,700. Through Chevron’s Humankind Matching Grant program,The Diamond Star Ranch Youth Initiative
received more than $1,700 from Chevron Corporation employees and the company in
memory of
Missy Blackbird.

big brothers big sisters splash into summer. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Montgomery County celebrated the end of a long
school year by splashing into summer at The Woodlands Resort.
Along with their “Bigs,” a group of kids from the organization were among the first to kick off summer
at the resort

Jazzy Junque raises more than $50,000 to benefit New Danville. Thanks to hundreds of donated items, sponsor support and the countless hours
devoted by volunteers, New Danville raised more than $50,000 during its Jazzy
Junque
& Other Great Stuff sale held this spring at Outlets at Conroe.
All of the proceeds raised from the sale benefited New Danville as matching
funds for the Montgomery County Community Development Home award for New
Danville
’s residential neighborhood called Meadowbrook.
Kathy Sanders, founder and CEO of New Danville, said, “We plan to hold a Jazzy Junque sale in March of 2010 and we will begin accepting
donations in late August or early September. We look forward to tremendous
support from the community once again to make our next goal even higher and the
event more successful.
”

2nd Annual Cure PH Bug Boil a Huge Success. The 2nd Annual Cure Pulmonary Hypertension Bug Boil was a huge success. Event
attendees enjoyed 2,000 pounds of crawfish, 80 pounds of fried alligator, 100
pounds of jambalaya as well as desserts and a variety of refreshments while
listening to the sounds of a live zydeco band.
Children played on giant bouncing moonwalks and enjoyed snow cones and popcorn.
Private tents brought shade for corporate sponsors while attendees browsed the
silent auction.
The Cure PH Bug Boil raises funds for research to help find a cure for pulmonary
hypertension. All proceeds are used to fund national research and awareness of
the disease.

The Friendship Center Starts Pet Meals on Wheels Program. In response to a national initiative encouraging Meals-On-Wheels programs to
consider assisting home-bound senior adults in feeding the four-legged
residents that also occupy their homes, The Friendship Center of Montgomery
County has initiated a pet food project to help local seniors care for their
best friends and help mates.
Research shows that pets assist seniors in remaining healthy, alert, fulfilled
and enable them to stay in their own homes for longer periods of time.
Approximately 250 animals are currently enrolled in the program, and the group
is seeking donations of pet food to meet the year-round needs of seniors on
tight budgets. For more information, call Nancy Harrington at 936-441-2982,
