Bigger and Better
The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion
The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion reopened May 1 with a concert by the Dave
Matthews Band after being closed to repair major damage caused by Hurricane Ike
in September. The $9.5 million renovation included the addition of 2,000 new
reserved seats and an expanded canopy to cover all 6,387 seats. The venue also
added a new state-of-the-art sound system on the lawn. The May 1 concert marked
the official launch of The Pavilion
’s 20th season.
