CELEBRATE THE REBIRTH OF GALVESTON ISLAND
As Galveston Island is poised to celebrate its comeback after Hurricane Ike, The San Luis Resort, Spa & Conference Center is welcoming guests with special rates for the rebirth weekends of May 1-3 and May 8-10.
To celebrate the opening of high season San Luis-style, guests can enjoy a poolside fashion show featuring the latest from LaCoste and women ’s seasonal wear from Style San Luis Boutique at a poolside fashion show, cocktail tastings and poolside tunes.
Visitors will also be privy to the highly anticipated opening of the Coastal Living Idea House from from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at 2721 East Seaside Drive. Coastal Living Idea Houses celebrate the best in coastal home innovation, d écor, and construction. They are built in coastal communities hand-selected by the magazine for environmental consciousness and sensitivity to shoreline preservation. The approximately 4,000-square-foot Idea House was designed by New Urban Guild Architect Michael G. Imber and reflects traditional Texas coastal homes and historic Galveston residences. It plays a significant role in celebrating the rebirth as it withstood the winds of Ike virtually unscathed. Tickets are $10 per person and proceeds will benefit Galveston Historical Society.
The Historic Homes Tour, set for May 2-3, May 9-10, will feature 10 houses, dating from 1860 to 1904, each of which suffered a calamity to some degree or another. Some are survivors of the Great Storm of 1900, others of the flood waters of Hurricane Ike. Still others have survived fire, collapsing foundations and tornados. Reconstruction is complete on some and ongoing on others.  Tickets are $25 beginning May 2.
Tickets for the Homes Tour or the Idea House can be purchased online at www.galvestonhistory.org or call 877-77CLICK.
All of the San Luis’ packages include the luxury and service the resort is known for, nothing is left to chance or circumstance.
