As the seasonal décor changes to pumpkins and goblins, so does the busy social scene of The
Woodlands. Fall brings an abundant calendar of events, from galas to walks
—opportunities to give back to the community. Here is just a sampling of the
philanthropic calendar for October and early November. From formal to Texas
chic, the dress varies, but the mission is the same. Each one is a symbol of
honorees, survivors, fighters or community programs that are making a
difference in our neighborhood. Step up and support one, not only will you have
a fabulous time, you too will touch the lives of so many, just by attending.

Lymphoma Society
’s Light The Night’s “Bank Day” (www.lightthenight.org).

Taking you right into mid-November and to a cause that has become the focus of
my personal and philanthropic life, The Will Herndon Fund for Juvenile Batten
Research and the Beyond Batten Foundation will host its first major local
fundraiser,
“Hope Under The Stars.” Taking place on the night of Nov. 14 at The Lodge at Rob Fleming in the Village
of Creekside Park, supporters will enjoy an evening of dancing with the Gary
Kyle Band, college football on the big screens and some great food while
supporting research for a treatment, that with hope, will save my son and the
hundreds like him who battle Batten disease (
www.willherndon.org).
I will be out and about every month with my camera in hand, so that you, too,
can be
“Scene in The Woodlands!”
