bridgewood farms Receives $5,000 woodforest grant. Located in Conroe, Bridgewood Farms provides day programs and services for
individuals with special needs.
In partnership with the local community, they enable individuals who are
intellectually disabled to reach their highest potential. Through continual
education, Bridgewood clients learn and improve their functional skills,
acquire meaningful job skills for the possibility of working in the community,
experience the joys that come with their accomplishments at the center and grow
socially and emotionally.
“Our foundaton is committed to supporting such charities that provide a positive
impact on the lives of others,

Woodforest Charitable Foundation recently provided a $5,000 contribution to
Bridgewood Farms, which provides programs and services for individuals with

anadarko participates in day of caring to help mcys. Anadarko Petroleum Corp. joined the United Way for a Day of Caring to give
Montgomery County Youth Services in The Woodlands a much needed office
makeover.
A group of 13 summer interns, Anadarko employees, friends and MCYS staff painted
rooms and re-covered chairs at the agency
’s location in The Woodlands. Servant Leadership is one of Anadarko’s core values, and this year summer interns were anxious to serve alongside
company employees in giving.
“We are so grateful for the help we received from Anadarko’s interns and employees,” said Chris Gritzmacher of MCYS. “These are very stressful times for the families we serve, but it adds a measure
of comfort and support for them to be able to visit our office and see that we
care about the quality of the environment we offer them ... I think it has been
a real boost to morale for both our families and staff members.
”
Anadarko’s interns have come from all over the country to spend their summer working in
The Woodlands. Interns who worked on this project were
John Abeid, James Cyr, Emeka Egbuna, Kyle Hickey, Kristin Larkins, Dylan Malynn, Toyo Martins, Kruti Narvekar, Jordan Portillo, Jacob Rivera, Namrita Sondhi, Ben Tatum and Helen Yu.
Anadarko employees and guests included Kimberly Blocker, Beverly Byrd, Kristin Griffin, Diane Johnson, Emily Johnson, Dominique Jacques-Sollecito, Jesse Juarez and Rupam Modi.
Anadarko summer interns joined Anadarko employees, friends and MCYS staff to
paint and re-cover chairs for a Day of Caring, a United Way event and one of
Anadarko's yearly Servant Leadership opportunities.
Interfaith Directory Cover Unveiled. The 2009-10 Interfaith of The Woodlands Telephone Directory made its debut
during a special unveiling on Aug. 4. With more than 80 people in attendance,
including The Woodlands founder
George P. Mitchell, the 35th Anniversary directory cover was unveiled, displaying a photo of the
Cynthia Woods Mitchell
’s tribute statue located at the north entrance of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell
Pavilion.
Bonni Horan, director of publications and residential services at Interfaith of The
Woodlands, said,
“As The Interfaith Telephone Directory celebrates its 35th anniversary, we wanted
to have a special
‘look’ on the directory cover. Last year, we honored Mr. Mitchell and wanted to honor his wife this year,
thanking her for all her contributions to this community.
”
Interfaith staff as well as local volunteers will distribute a new directory to
households and area businesses.
Two Men In a Truck Partner with Hand Me Up Shop. Locally-owned Two Men In a Truck has agreed to deliver pro bono donated
furniture on a monthly basis from the community to the Interfaith of The
Woodlands Hand Me Up Shop.
“Interfaith is so grateful of the partnership with Two Men in a Truck,” said Dr. Ann Snyder, president and CEO of Interfaith. “Their services provide an opportunity for individuals who are unable to deliver
it to the shop themselves to donate furniture to Interfaith.
”

The Pavilion Partners “Hot
Legs” FundRaiser
a Success. The Pavilion Partners Pre-Concert Dinner and Fundraiser was held prior to the
Rod Stewart concert at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Guests enjoyed the
hottest party of the year while supporting educational outreach programs
offered by The Pavilion, including Musical Scores, Children
’s Festival and Fine Arts Education Day.
This event featured a night of classic pop rock that raised approximately
$35,000 for The Pavilion
’s educational initiatives.
Emmy Award-winning reporter and anchor for KTRK 13 Eyewitness News Art Rascon, served as the honorary auctioneer for the evening. Rascon helped raise $22,900
during the live auction that included an array of items such as a trip to Las
Vegas, sports packages, private dinners and a Tom Petty autographed guitar that
sold for $5,000.
Rod Stewart signed a mannequin’s leg, part of the evening’s decorations, and one of his album covers. Both were included in the live
auction. The silent auction raised $6,000.
With one of the most distinctive voices in rock history, Stewart put on a
memorable performance, entertaining the audience with all of his classic hits.

boys & girls country Receives $5,000 woodforest grant. Boys & Girls Country of Northwest Houston recently received a $5,000 contribution from
Woodforest Charitable Foundation to help the charitable Christian home provide
children from families in crisis with love, security, a sense of self worth and
opportunities to prepare themselves for a successful life.
Boys & Girls Country believes that every child should have a place to grow up and a
sense of being home.
