Hada fall antique show and sale
Houston Antiques Dealers Association will host the Fall Antiques Show and Sale from Sept. 18-20 in Hall B of the George R. Brown Convention Center.  
For only three days this fall, the HADA show will offer the rare, unusual, precious and bizarre in furniture, paintings, accessories, jewelry and vintage clothing.

The Montgomery County Association of Business Women invites the public to its 3rd annual Ladies Night Out. The theme this year is “Vegas on the Lake,” and event organizers promise: “What happens at Ladies Night Out, stays at Ladies Night Out.”
The event will be held from 6:30 p.m.-10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the April Sound Country Club Lakeside Room. The evening ’s festivities will include casino games, karaoke, pet picture readings from a pet psychic, raffles, silent auction items, appetizers and a cash bar.
“We want the ladies to feel like they are hitting the strip,” said event co-chair Mercedes Milstead.  “They can wear jeans and high heels and just have some fun.”
All proceeds will benefit Friends of Montgomery County Texas Animal Shelter located in Conroe.

11th annual dragon boat team challenge
The 2009 YMCA Dragon Boat Team Challenge presented by Hewitt will be held at Northshore Park and Lake Woodlands from Sept. 25-27.
This team building event is designed to build community spirit among corporations, civic groups and community organizations. A team is composed of a minimum of 20 members, but no more than 30. Each team roster must have a minimum of five females and participants must be at least 18 years of age. High school teams, 9th-12th grade, are eligible to participate in the Sunday morning bracket from 8 a.m.-noon.

stroller fit classes, beginning sept. 4
StrollerFit exercise classes return to Market Street’s Central Park every Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. beginning Sept. 4.
The stroller-based fitness program, led by personal trainer and The Woodlands StrollerFit franchise owner Stephanie Taylor, allows moms to exercise with their babies by incorporating strollers into a series of resistance, strength and cardiovascular training. Book Clubs at Barbara Bush Branch Library, Sept. 8, 21, 24
The Evening Book Club will meet on Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Barbara Bush Branch Library. The September selection is So Brave, Young and Handsome by Leif Enger.
The Great Books Discussion Group will meet on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. in the WCR Conference Room to discuss Wealth of Nations by Smith. The group meets on the third Monday of each month from 7 p.m.-8:45 p.m. For more information, contact Earl Bissex at 281-955-9447.
The Afternoon Book Club will meet on Sept. 24 at 1:30 p.m. to discuss The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer. The book club meets the fourth Thursday of each month in the EER room on the first floor.

The Central Book Club meets at the Central Library, 104 I-45 N in Conroe at 2 p.m. on the second Thursday of every month.
Upcoming meetings and selections include: The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri on Sept. 10; Thunderstruck by Erik Larson on Oct. 8; The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield on Nov. 12. The Dec. 10 meeting will be a party and opportunity to pick books for next year ’s book club.

knitting/crocheting meets
at Bush Library on fridays
The knitting, crocheting and conversation group meets every Friday from 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Earl Elliott meeting room at the Bush Library. Help make lap blankets for veterans and chemo caps for M.D. Anderson patients. Bring items from the following list for a soldier in Afghanistan including cards, books, toiletries or hard candy. vaudeville show, sept. 11-27
Stage Right of Texas will present an old fashioned Vaudeville show to celebrate the historic theater ’s 75th birthday. Shows will be held from Sept. 11-27 at the Crighton Theatre, located at 234 N. Main St. in Conroe.  
Originally built in 1934 as a vaudeville and movie house, the Crighton stage never hosted a vaudeville show. For the opening of the 2009-10 season, Stage Right will remedy that by presenting the stars of yesteryear including Fanny Brice, Abbott and Costello, Burns and Allen, specialty acts and a lovely line of chorines.
Performances will be held on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; and Sunday matinees on Sept. 20 and Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $17 for adults; $12 for youth and students; and a $15 group and senior rate.
Stage Right will be collecting food items to be donated to the Montgomery County Food Bank during the run of the show.

Coffee With The Cardiologist series at St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital, beginning sept. 24
St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital is hosting an informal series of discussions entitled Coffee With The Cardiologist that will cover educational topics presented by cardiologist Margit Nemeth, M.D., at 8 a.m. in Conference Room 4 of the hospital.
